Water is an essential part of human living.
Water is even more crucial when you are out camping because it is not much you can achieve without water.
Water has numerous uses when you are out.
It might be to quench your thirst, maybe take a shower or even just make a nice warm meal.
On all these occasions you will need water.
There are, however, occasions that necessitate boiled water on camping trips.
One such occasion is when you want to quench your thirst.
However, water is not always safe to drink, and at times you may need to boil it to kill germs and other disease-causing organisms.
However, boiling water when you are out camping can prove to be an uphill task.
That is because you do not have an electric kettle or even the electricity to power it.
On the bright side, there are, however, many ways of boiling water while out camping.
But first, you will have to determine the type of camping you are doing and how that will affect the space you have for carrying fuels and stoves.
Here are some common ways to boil water while on a camping trip:
1. Kettle over a campfire
This has got to be the most common way of boiling water while out on a trip.
You will only need a camping kettle over 1 litre, filled with water and place over some heat.
However, if you have larger kettles, they will take longer to reach a boiling point.
Kettles are great because it is easier to pour boiled water into another container.
But you should always ensure that you carry some protective gloves to shield you from burning.
Ensure you have a grill plate to place over the fire so your kettle can sit comfortably.
2. Trusty pot
It is an excellent alternative to the kettle. It is a primary means of boiling water.
You will only have to fill it with water, place it above the fire and wait till it boils.
However, there is a downside to this pot. It will take longer to boil because the pot is bulky and is made from dense material.
Most campers do not prefer this method because of the weight of the pot.
Nonetheless, find a pot that has a pointed opening that will ease decantation.
3. Charcoal grill
If you are out camping and thinking of making some barbeque for yourself, you can also use the charcoal grill for boiling water.
Do not necessarily light a campfire out of wood and try traditional means of boiling water while you can just use your charcoal grill.
It is much simpler to use and more convenient.
In addition, many National Parks have built-in grills for their visitors.
Therefore, depending on the size of the available grill, you may boil your water.
Charcoal is also great for cooking because it gives out a nice heat that is often odourless.
4. Tin Can
A tin can is an option only for emergency scenarios.
It is not a great option because you will not have the protective handle to pick the can after boiling.
Further, you may find germs and bacteria that may cause disease.
